“Fourth Industrial Revolution and Smart City Investment Dialogue”

Greenovate has attended the The 24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade. According to the United Nations World Urbanization Prospects 2021 report, it is expected that by 2050, 68% of the global population will live in cities, which will pose huge challenges to resources, the environment and urban management. The construction of smart cities is a key way to address these challenges. The development of smart cities is closely linked to several of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), notably SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Smart cities are providing practical solutions to achieve these goals by reducing traffic congestion and carbon emissions through intelligent transportation systems and improving energy efficiency through smart energy systems.

However, the construction of smart cities is not a smooth process. The construction of smart cities is faced with the huge demand for technology and infrastructure upgrades, the serious challenges of data security and privacy protection, and the complexities of cross-sector and cross-discipline collaboration. Although urban areas account for only 2% of the earth's surface, they contribute more than 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This reality underscores the urgency of integrating green technologies and sustainable strategies in smart city planning and operations.

As a globally recognized investment and trade event, the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) provides an ideal platform for the dialogue between the Fourth Industrial Revolution and smart cities. By bringing together experts and leaders from around the world, this forum not only showcases the latest smart city solutions, but also promotes international cooperation and the realization of global sustainable development goals. The Fourth Industrial Revolution and Smart Cities Investment Dialogue, organized at CIFIT, will further expand its influence and help countries make breakthroughs in the fields of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and Smart Cities.
